February Is When I start Living Outside Again
That photo up there? That’s Dragons Alley Coffee. And yes, it’s very real. And yes, it’s very Vegas. This is exactly how February starts for me every year.
This is the month I start eating outside again. Like actually choosing a patio. Coffee in the sun without immediately second-guessing it. Sitting there longer than I planned because it feels good and no one’s rushing me. February is when I remember how much I love al fresco anything.
Mornings are hoodie weather, which is basically my favorite thing. By noon, I’m walking farther than I meant to, taking the long way through the neighborhood, letting the day stretch a little. Being outside doesn’t feel like effort. It just feels normal again. Weekends are when it really clicks. I’ll say I’m heading to Red Rock for a quick walk and suddenly I’ve been out there an hour. No heat stress, no racing back to the car. Just blue sky, quiet trails, and that reminder that Vegas is more than what people think it is.
Food changes too. I stop craving heavy, stay-inside meals. Happy hour sounds like a great idea again. Dinners start earlier, last longer, and almost always involve a patio. February is when I remember that Vegas is an incredible food city when the weather lets you enjoy it.
Even at home, things shift. Windows are open. Projects start. I’ll step into the backyard to “straighten up” and suddenly I’m out there way longer than planned because it’s actually pleasant. Spring starts showing up mentally before it ever does on the calendar. From the outside, it probably doesn’t look like much. But living here, you feel it immediately. Vegas stops feeling like something you manage and starts feeling easy again.
That’s why I love February here. It’s not loud or flashy. It’s just really, really good. More of my very biased, very local takes on life in Las Vegas are always in my Linktree in my bio.
